Switchgear cabinets

Switchgear boards

Switchgear is used at power plants, city substations, and to power oil industry facilities.

Complete switchgear (KRU) is a switchgear assembled from standard, high-readiness, standardized blocks (cells), assembled in factory conditions.

The distribution device contains a set of switching devices, busbars and connecting buses, auxiliary relay protection and automation devices and metering and measuring equipment.

At voltages up to 35 kV, cells are manufactured in the form of cabinets connected by side walls into a common row.

In such cabinets, elements with voltage up to 1 kV are made with wires in solid insulation, and elements from 1 to 35 kV are made with conductors with air insulation.

For voltages above 35 kV, air insulation is not applicable, so elements under high voltage are placed in sealed chambers filled with SF6 gas.

The cells with SF6 chambers have a complex structure, outwardly similar to a network of pipelines.

Gas-insulated switchgear is abbreviated as GIS.

Scope of application

Complete switchgear units can be used for both indoor and outdoor installation (in this case they are called KRUN). KRUN are widely used in cases where compact placement of the switchgear is required.

In particular, switchgear is used at power plants, city substations, for power supply of oil industry facilities (oil pipelines, drilling rigs), and in ship power consumption schemes.

Among switchgear cabinets, single-sided maintenance chambers (KSO) are singled out. Single-sided maintenance allows KSO to be installed directly against the wall or with their back walls facing each other, which saves space (important in conditions of high-density urban development).
